Commissioning, Automation & Readiness Expert

Who we are

You’ll be joining a diverse and ambitious team, spread across Germany, Canada, and Spain, all working together to shape the future of sustainable energy. At PowerCo we celebrate collaboration, progress and that spark that turns bold ideas into real impact. From our new gigafactory in Sagunto (Valencia), we’re driving a project that’s transforming both the region and the future of clean mobility in Europe — and you can be part of it.

Your role and key responsibilities

This position will be part of our Operations Department, the heart of PowerCo — where innovation becomes reality. This area brings together multiple teams working on the construction of our gigafactory and the different stages of battery cell production. From engineering and design to process optimization and production excellence, Operations is where the future of energy takes shape.

As our Commissioning, Automation & Operational Readiness Expert, you’ll help turn installed systems into stable and reliable operations. You’ll connect commissioning, automation, validation and operational teams to ensure our facility and infrastructure systems are ready to perform from day one.

In your day-to-day, you will:

  • Develop commissioning strategies, procedures and execution plans and coordinate the commissioning of DHUs, AHUs, BCUs, dust extraction equipment and utility systems.
  • Plan and execute qualification, simulation and validation activities, including the classification of cleanrooms and dry rooms according to ISO 14644-1, and verify system functionality and performance.
  • Develop FMCS architectures, automation concepts, functional descriptions and technical requirements, ensuring the successful integration of facility systems into FMCS and MES platforms.
  • Review supplier automation documentation and software concepts, verify programming standards and implementation quality, and coordinate environmental requirements with equipment suppliers.
  • Manage punch lists and defect resolution, support plant availability, stability and operational readiness, and prepare the documentation required to hand systems over to Operations.

What you bring to the team
  • University degree in Automation, Controls, Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, together with at least 5 years of experience in commissioning, building automation, controls engineering or operational readiness within complex industrial facilities.
  • Proven knowledge of FMCS, MES integration, validation and qualification, automation standards, simulation testing and cleanroom classification, combined with strong coordination and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to work in Sagunto. Please note that while some positions are currently based in Valencia, our operations will progressively move to Sagunto, so we require availability to work there from the start.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts.
  • Please submit your CV in English.

What makes you stand out
  • Experience in battery manufacturing, automotive, semiconductor, pharmaceutical or another highly automated industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14644-1, facility utility systems and automation platforms such as Siemens PCS 7, TIA Portal, WinCC or equivalent technologies.

What to look forward to
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Competitive salary aligned with the Spanish Chemical Industry Collective Agreement.
  • 25 vacation days a year + extra PowerCo Days to truly disconnect.
  • Full health insurance coverage for you.
  • Gympass membership to keep your body and mind in top shape.
  • Monthly meal allowance through Cobee.
  • Permanent contract — we’re building something to last.
  • Employee discounts, including special rates on vehicles from the Group.
