Who we are
|
Our mission has started. We are starting our own battery cell production in Battery Valley in Salzgitter and ramping up our headquarters for global cell production. The CTO organization takes care of the battery cell development. Our responsibility includes research, predevelopment of materials and components, series development, prototyping, testing and analysis of battery cells.

Your role and key responsibilities
|
In this master's thesis, you will make a key contribution to the further development of quality control in lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing. The focus is on the systematic analysis of the high-potential test (Hi-Pot) in order to gain a deeper understanding of electrical failure mechanisms within dry stacks.
- Theoretical and well-founded analysis of current scientific findings relating to electrical insulation testing, separator breakdown mechanisms, particle defects, and process risks in cell assembly
- Development of a methodological investigation framework for the insulating characterization of dry stacks
- Identification of requirements, restrictions, and assumptions for reliable performance of the hi-pot test and for hot press parameterization including electrical safety, separator behavior, particle size limits, temperature and pressure influences
- Conducting empirical laboratory tests, including: Variation of Hi-Pot parameters, parameterization of hot pressing, comparison of Hi-Pot measurements before and after hot pressing, introduction of defined particle sizes to simulate real failure mechanisms
- Documentation, validation, and preparation of results as well as formulation of recommendations for scaling in production and quality assurance.
