LFP Electrolyte Expert in Battery Cell Development (all genders)

Who we are

The mission has started. We proudly announce that in our Battery Valley we are starting our own battery cell production and the ramp up of our worldwide headquarters for global cell manufacturing. The CTO organization takes care of the battery cell development. Our responsibility includes research, predevelopment of materials and components, series development, prototyping, testing and analysis of battery cells.

Your role and key responsibilities
  • Develop liquid electrolyte formulations for our Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery cells and help to shape the cell chemistry to match the requirements from our customers’ specifications.
  • Plan and execute comprehensive testing protocols together with our development team. Plan and carry out efficient experimental campaigns in different cell formats to evaluate the electrochemical performance of the electrolyte formulations, especially regarding cell cycle life, quick charging capability, stability, and safety and give recommendations for their implementation into the battery cell.
  • Identify and assess key failure mechanisms in LFP-based cells and address issues through efficient electrolyte engineering.
  • Carry out detailed investigations to find causative relationships between LFP cell performance and the interaction of electrolyte components (especially conductive salts, additives) with the respective electrode materials in the cell.
  • Plan and realize experiments starting from laboratory scale to pilot scale.
  • Closely work together with cell design experts to scale the findings on experimental level to full cell scale.
  • Contribute to the development of novel ideas for intellectual property (IP) filings in your field of expertise.
  • Lead technical discussions with electrolyte suppliers. Stay up to date regarding the newest developments in LFP electrolyte technology and align these with PowerCo’s targets.
  • Navigate within a dynamic environment and consider non-expert audiences in your communication of technical results. Make your planning and technical thought process visible and understandable to the people around you, from managers to technicians.

What you bring to the team
  • University degree e.g., in chemistry, electrochemistry, material science, physics, chemical engineering, process engineering or comparable qualification.
  • Practical experience in battery cell R&D, preferably in an industrial environment.
  • Proven track record in Li-Ion electrolyte R&D.
  • Strong analytical competence.
  • Outstanding ability to work in a team.
  • High degree of self-initiative and target orientation.
  • Structured and responsible way of working.
  • Communicative skills in an interdisciplinary and international working environment.
  • Business fluent English language skills.

What makes you stand out
  • Willingness to travel internationally

What to look forward to
  • Flexible working hours from 28 to 40h per week
  • Possibility of a 4-day-week (up to 35h per week)
  • 30 days paid + 10 days unpaid leave
  • Mobile work options
  • Relocation support
  • More benefits to come
