About the Role
|
For the initial ramp-up phase of our North American operations, we are looking for a passionate Sustainability Manager in the field of Sustainability who wants to CELLebrate in fast-paced and fast-changing environments. As part of the ramp-up team, you will work closely with local PowerCo SE team members, our PowerCo team members at Headquarters in Germany as well as colleagues from the Volkswagen Group Canada in Ajax, ON. Reporting to the Head of the Sustainability Management team, you will set up Sustainability Management processes required to support the business as needed.
This is a flex hybrid work structure, where employees can work both remotely and on-site at our St. Thomas location.

Key Responsibilities
|
• analyzing business, environmental, social and governance data in the context of ESG and examine value chains with regard to their ESG-relevant impacts
• Driving the integration of sustainability goals into business processes and supporting the specialist departments in operational implementation
• Manage the implementation of sustainability projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are on track, on time and within budget
• Lead for communicating the sustainability strategy internally and externally, including leading workshops, facilitating stakeholder dialogues and managing external inquiries to sustainability efforts.
• Developing and implementing standards for the onboarding of suppliers on the topic of sustainability
• Representing procurement interests in cross-functional projects (e.g. specialist groups) to ensure that sustainability considerations are integrated into procurement decisions.
• Creating preparing and delivering comprehensive reports on sustainability initiatives and progress, providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Collaborating closely with central Sustainability Management team to align on strategy and ensure consistency in sustainability efforts across the organization.
• Lead the onboarding process for new employees on the procurement team, with focus on sustainability culture and practices.
• Partner with internal teams to drive continuous improvement processes, ensuring operational efficiency and sustainability integration.
• Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support sustainability initiatives and organizational goal.
• Work closely with management and employees to improve relationships, boost morale and contribute to higher productivity and retention.

What you bring to the Team
|
• University degree in business administration, economics, industrial engineering or similar field preferred
• 7+ years of relevant experience in a Generalist roles with proven experience in identifying, managing and mitigating risks
• Solid understanding of Sustainability management principles and best practices
• Expertise in Sustainability within the battery manufacturing business
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong ability to present information on top-management level
• Excellent project & process management skills
• Demonstrated capability to identify and incorporate opportunities for process improvement
• Strong communication skills (oral and written)
• Strong problem-solving and implementation skills
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively and work cross-functionally departments
• Proven success collaborating with senior business leaders
• German language knowledge desirable, but not required |
