Your role and key responsibilities

As an Senior Specialist - Transportation Management you will be responsible to plan, implement, coordinate, steer and optimize inbound logistics, transportation and empty container processes for the PowerCo facility in St. Thomas. Reporting to the Inbound Logistics Manager you will support and contribute to the PowerCo Logistics team to achive the objectives of the logistics rollout project of PowerCo Canada. 

 

This is a flex hybrid work structure, where employees can work both remotely and on-site at our St. Thomas location.

  
 
What you bring to the team
  • Develop a robust, resilient, and cost‑efficient transportation network for PowerCo Canada including the flow of empty container, covering road, rail, intermodal, ocean, air, and parcel logistics.
  • Adapt and implement all inbound logistics processes locally based on PowerCo headquarters standards, including defining IT requirements, packaging concepts, and cross‑functional interfaces.
  • Plan, establish, and operate the Truck Control Center, including processes for arrival management, slot control, yard management, access control, safety requirements, and digital workflow integration.
  • End‑to‑end responsibility for empty container management, including process definition (planning & standards), implementation and system setup and operational control including monitoring and capacity management.
  • Technically evaluate and technically discuss with transportation service providers (carriers, shortline railroads, 3PLs, 4PLs), including RFP/RFQ preparation, offer evaluation, and contract compliance monitoring.
  • Plan logistics‑related site infrastructure (road and rail) and define requirements for connections to public or third‑party infrastructure.
  • Manage and report transport performance, including KPI setup, monthly reporting, transport demand forecasting, long‑term capacity planning, and short‑term mitigation of capacity shortages.
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders (PowerCo Canada, Volkswagen Canada, PowerCo HQ) and drive continuous process improvements, prepare management presentations, and execute all logistics rollout‑related activities.
  
 
What makes you stand out

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Logistics / Business Administration / Transport / Supply Chain Management.
• 5-7 years of experience
• In‑depth, proven experience in logistics and transport planning or transport management.
• Experience in packaging planning would be appreciated. 
• Experience with planning and operating a Truck Control Center (including Yard Management and Slot Management).
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in an environment of shifting priorities, timelines and occasional ambiguity 
• A global mindset, with a customer driven approach and ability to build trust and relationships

•    Attractive Remuneration: The expected competitive compensation range for this position is $87,650- $131,470 CAD, which includes base pay and target amount of short term incentive plan.
