About the Role
|
In this role, the Senior Risk Management and Audit Specialist will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks while implementing governance structures that enhance decision-making, compliance, and operational efficiency. They will work closely with key stakeholders to establish risk controls, monitor project performance, and drive continuous improvements in governance processes.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in risk assessment methodologies, regulatory compliance, and governance best practices, with the ability to analyze complex project structures and implement proactive solutions. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential to effectively support the Project Management (PM) Manager in driving risk-aware decision-making and robust project governance.

Key Responsibilities
|
• Lead the development and implementation of risk management and project governance frameworks across all project areas.
• Monitor and assess project risks, compliance requirements, and governance processes to identify vulnerabilities and drive continuous improvements
• Oversee the establishment and maintenance of a structured risk management database, ensuring key risks, mitigation strategies, and governance insights are effectively documented and applied.
• Lead the development of documentation protocols for tracking risks, compliance measures, and governance effectiveness, integrating findings into ongoing and future project phases.
• Oversee collaboration with project managers and key stakeholders to implement governance best practices, strengthen risk controls, and enhance decision-making processes.
• Lead the identification, analysis, and mitigation of financial, operational, and legal risks, ensuring proactive risk management strategies are in place.
• Oversee the implementation of project governance policies, ensuring compliance with internal standards, industry regulations, and best practices.
• Monitor risk exposure levels, governance compliance, and project performance, enforcing corrective actions and ensuring alignment with business objectives within PowerCo CA, as well as with the Headquarters of PowerCo SE.
• Lead risk assessments and scenario planning activities, identifying potential project disruptions and developing contingency strategies.
• Lead the evaluation of governance effectiveness, policy adherence, and risk mitigation success, driving enhancements for continuous improvement.
• Oversee the development of standardized templates, tools, and frameworks for risk management and project governance to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Monitor the preparation and delivery of regular reports and presentations, highlighting key risks, governance challenges, mitigation strategies, and compliance status updates.
• Provide regular updates to the PM Manager, Project Lead, and/or CEO, COO, ensuring clear communication on governance milestones, risks, and ongoing initiatives.
• Foster a culture of proactive risk management and strong governance by promoting collaboration, transparency, and accountability across project teams.
• Assure that different stakeholders make a join effort to accomplish common goals, reporting misalignments that might arise.
• Perform additional leadership responsibilities as required, contributing to the overall success and strategic growth of the Project Management team and organization.

What you bring to the Team
|
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering or related fields.
• 7+ years of professional experience managing projects in complex, interdisciplinary environments with a focus on risk management, governance, and compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of risk management principles, project governance frameworks, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Strong understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to project risk and governance, particularly in the construction or related industries.
• Proven ability to identify, assess, and mitigate financial, operational, and legal risks across projects.
• Expertise in project governance, including the development of policies, procedures, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen for optimizing governance and risk management practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across diverse teams and organizational levels.
• Strong strategic and analytical thinking with a pragmatic approach to risk resolution.
• Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, managing priorities effectively.
• Proficiency in risk management and project management software, along with advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
• High level of professionalism, responsiveness, and a structured, results-oriented work style.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, excelling in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
• Adaptability to intercultural settings with strong empathy and interpersonal understanding.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels of hierarchy and functional departments.
• Occasional travel within Ontario and internationally (~10%).
• Flexibility to accommodate time zone differences with Europe when necessary.
• Willingness to work overtime as required to meet project deadlines.
• Experience in the automotive, e-mobility, or construction industry, with knowledge of specific challenges and opportunities, is considered an asset.
• German language skills are considered an asset.
