PowerCo Canada Inc. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Industrial Engineer as Layout Coordinator to support the design and optimization of layout configurations at our battery cell production facility in St. Thomas. The Layout Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring efficient space utilization, streamlined workflows, and adaptability in our plant layout. This role involves collaborating closely with the industrial engineering, construction, and operations teams to configure and adjust layouts that support high-quality, scalable production. 

 

This is a temporary flex hybrid model requiring 2 days in the St. Thomas office, subject to change based on the needs and nature of this project. During certain phases of the build, a full-time onsite presence may be a requirement.

  
 
How you will CELLebrate

Layout Planning & Design: 
o    Setup and leading the process of layout coordination working closely with engineering, construction, operations and HSE teams to align layout design with production goals and facility needs.
o    Analyze operational requirements and production workflows to recommend and implement layout adjustments that support efficient, ergonomic, safe, and adaptable production environments, optimize space usage, material flow, and production efficiency. 
Layout Change Mangement:
o    Setup and leading an effective layout change management process.
o    Communicate layout plans and changes effectively across departments, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and aligned.
Workflow Optimization:
o    Support the Industrial Engineering team in configuring and coordinating workflows to facilitate smooth production processes and minimize bottlenecks.
o    Participate in value stream mapping activities to enhance layout efficiency and support continuous improvement efforts.
Documentation & Compliance:
o    Ensure accurate documentation of layout configurations and changes, maintaining comprehensive records for audits and regulatory compliance.
o    Prepare and update layout plans and diagrams, including modifications during facility ramp-up phases.
Digital Tools & Simulation:
o    Utilize digital engineering tools and simulation software to visualize and test layout configurations before implementation.
o    Analyze simulation results and work with the team to make data-driven layout decisions.
Continuous Improvement:
o    Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including layout evaluations and redesigns to support evolving production requirements.
o    Provide feedback on layout effectiveness and suggest improvements for future scalability.

  
 
What you need for our CELLebration

•    Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
•    5+ years’ experience of working in large scale production plant with sufficient knowledge and experience in layout coordination, industrial engineering, or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
 

  
 
What else can you bring

•    Experienced in the field of production and industrial engineering and production start up
•    Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles, value stream mapping, and workflow optimization.
•    Proficiency in CAD software and layout simulation tools.
•    Ability to analyse production technologies and processes by the help of digital tools such as Siemens Teamcenter and Plant Simulation
•    Strong analytical thinking with proven record of problem solving using tools
•    Knowledge of lean management and continuous improvement process
•    Ability to adapt to and maintain flexibility with the juggling of multiple projects
•    Exceptional comprehension and strong communication skills 
•    Ability to work independently and as well as part of a team
•    Ability to follow through and make significant progress in a fast pace, dynamic environment.
•    Ability to travel both within Canada/US and internationally up to ~ 10%
