About the Role

As part of the Security and Emergency Response Team and reporting to the Site Security Manager, the Security Specialist will have primary responsibility for the security service contract. The Security Specialist will create roles and responsibilities for all security posts and emergency response, ensuring compliance with the security scope of work. Additionally, the Security Specialist will oversee all aspects of access and flow of pedestrians and vehicles onto and within the property, ensuring compliance with safety and security requirements. The Security Specialist will be responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly site security audits and reporting of findings.

 

This is a flex hybrid model requiring 2 days in the St. Thomas office, subject to change based on the needs and nature of this project. 

  
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage vendor relationships and performance, including scheduling, issue resolution, invoicing, and compliance monitoring.
  • Review and approve security service billing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly security audits and report findings.
  • Supervise daily activities of all contract security guards, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Train all contract security personnel on policies, procedures, and post responsibilities.
  • Develop, update, and distribute post orders and work instructions tailored to site-specific needs.
  • Oversee access and flow at all pedestrian and vehicle entry points to ensure the safety and security of personnel and property.
  • Lead site-wide security initiatives, and represent department and act as subject matter expert on compliance programs.
  • Support emergency response protocols and participate in site-wide emergency drills and planning.
  • Respond to and assist with investigations of security incidents, breaches, or suspicious activity.
  • Deliver employee safety and security training as required.
  • Assist in developing and executing security plans for on-site events.
  • Maintain documentation related to audits, training, post orders, and incident reports.
  
 
What you bring to the Team
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Technical Diploma
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a security operations role, with at least 1 year supervising front line security guards.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and leading front line security guards.
  • Strong knowledge of security contracts, front line security roles and responsibilities as well as drafting policy, procedures, and security post orders.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a larger security and emergency response team.
  • Use sound judgement to achieve results in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Working knowledge of physical security systems (Access Control, Video Surveillance).
  • ASIS CPP, APP, PSP, or equivalent certification preferred. 
  • Experience with CTPAT and/or PIP are preferred.
