About the Role
|
We are looking for a Maintenance Spare Parts Engineer who wants to CELLebrate in a fast-paced and fast-changing environment. As part of the ramp-up team at our new Canadian location, you will report to the Maintenance Manager. You will be responsible for the selection, procurement, management, and optimization of spare parts inventory to support maintenance and operational reliability. This role is responsible for ensuring that all necessary spare parts and materials are available for both planned and emergency maintenance activities. The goal is to minimize downtime and enhance equipment efficiency. Additionally, this position will facilitate smooth collaboration between central teams and local departments to establish a robust spare parts management process throughout all phases of our state-of-the-art electric vehicle battery manufacturing facility.
The Maintenance Spare Parts Engineer also coordinates resources across departments and ensures maintenance readiness from the pre-launch to the production phase, always focusing on optimizing schedules using equipment performance data, minimizing downtime through collaboration with production teams, maintaining comprehensive records of production and maintenance patterns, and contributing to global and local Lessons Learned (LL) networks to drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
|
• Spare Parts Management: Identify, evaluate, and categorize critical spare parts required for maintenance and repair operations.
• Inventory Control: Maintain optimal stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking, ensuring cost-effective inventory management.
• Procurement Coordination: Work closely with suppliers, procurement teams, and maintenance personnel to source quality spare parts at competitive prices.
• Technical Evaluation: Assess spare parts compatibility with existing equipment, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
• CMMS Utilization: Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track spare parts usage, availability, and reorder points.
• Supplier and Vendor Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and negotiate contracts for reliable and cost-efficient spare parts supply.
• Failure Analysis & Reporting: Analyse equipment failures to recommend spare parts improvements and support root cause analysis initiatives.
• Cost Optimization: Implement cost-saving strategies while maintaining spare part availability and reliability.
• Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all spare parts records, technical documentation, and regulatory compliance requirements are up to date.
• Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for efficiency gains in spare parts management.
• Ensure that the strategy for maintenance spare parts aligns with the company's goals.
• Provide insights from the RFQ to SOP regarding maintainability and standardization of spare parts.
• Implement the pre-launch maintenance activities due to spare parts as the central maintenance team provides, ensuring alignment with site-specific requirements.
• Work with local vendors and service providers to procure the team's necessary equipment, tools, and resources.
• Facilitate the process of cataloguing spare parts for all assets accurately entering the system before production launch.
• Facilitate the "Site Maturity Assurance Plan" to guide the factory through the transition from ramp-up to full production.
• Ensure the availability of parts to meet maintenance requirements
• Support the development and implementation of maintenance plans and procedures to minimize equipment downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
• Participation or support to project reviews
• Support design/analysis documentation, Specifications, Design Practices, Bill of Materials, Work Instructions
• Collaborate with production teams and others to minimize downtime
• Participate in global and local Lessons Learned Network
• Handling supplier-related Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
• Evaluate and monitor the performance of key spare parts to optimize their lifecycle management and improve efficiency and reliability.
• Organize the setup of the spare parts rooms and the personnel assigned to those areas.

What you bring to the Team
|
• BSc degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical engineering,Industrial or a related field.
• Certification in Maintenance & Reliability (CMRP or equivalent) is a plus.
• experience in maintenance, spare parts management, or reliability engineering in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience in Maintenance Planning
• Knowledge of ABC classification for spare parts prioritization.
• Experience in a highly automated manufacturing or process industry.
• Desirable training (asset): Maintenance Planning and Scheduling, ISO 5500/55001, Reliability Centered Maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance, Green Belt and Kaizen, PMP, WCM and Six Sigma principles.
• Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and spare parts management.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Strong knowledge of asset lifecycle management, spare parts inventory, and resource allocation in an industrial setting.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose equipment issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong analytical skills to monitor equipment performance, track key metrics, and optimize spare parts supply challenges.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to understand part, sub-assembly, and system dimensional layouts
• Ability to provide clear feedback and guidance.
• Ability to adapt maintenance strategies based on evolving production needs, equipment performance, and factory growth.
• Strong commitment to continuous improvement, focusing on optimizing equipment uptime and reducing operational costs.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and practices in an industrial maintenance environment.
• Experience in maintenance scheduling, preferably in Cleantech, Pharma, and Chemical industry
• Proficiency in CMMS and Scheduling tools
• Experience in FAT and SAT
• Capacity to guide and train other employees
• Experience in pre-launch and ramp-up settings
• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical components used in industrial machinery.
