Your role and key responsibilities
|
Reporting to and working with the Site Security Manager, the Sr. Security Specialist – Security Operations Centre (SOC) will be the first point of contact for all aspects of this 24/7 operation with responsibility for all life-safety and critical systems. In this role, the Sr. Security Specialist will plan and implement the overall design and strategy for the operation. Within the SOC, the team will monitor, detect, analyse, and dispatch for all emergency situations affecting the site operation, transportation, and for employees travelling domestically and internationally. The SOC will monitor all security, fire, life-safety, and building alarms as well as utilize security technology including access control, security cameras, and intrusion detection systems. Prior to operational status of the site, the Sr. Security Specialist will aid in the design and set-up of the SOC including procurement and vendor selection. The Sr. Security Specialist will develop SOC work instructions, relevant policies, and execute a training program for go-live of the SOC. In this role, the Sr. Security Specialist will conduct sensitive and confidential investigations and perform Executive Protection duties including risk assessments, and event security planning and execution.
This position is in-person and located in St. Thomas ON.

What you bring to the team
|
• Lead the day-to-day activities of the 24/7 Security Operations Centre (SOC) • Emergency on-call availability on a rotational basis • Design the initial workplace set-up of the SOC including equipment and technology specifications • Work with internal and external partners to identify staffing needs • Create operational policies, work instructions, and escalation processes • Conduct SOC operator training and delegate duties to a team of duty officers • Conduct investigations of a sensitive, confidential, and complex nature and documenting all findings • Provide technical support for all investigations (ie camera and access control reviews) • Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues and recommended system upgrades • Monitor all employee travel for security risks domestically and internationally • Provide executive and staff travel security briefings • Represent Security and Emergency Response team on cross-functional committees • Liaise with Emergency Response Agencies (Police, Fire, EMS) and other government agencies to ensure interoperability for incident response and crisis management • Perform Executive Protection duties including risk assessments, pre-planning location assessments and audits, executive driving in all weather conditions and during day and night • Assist with event security planning, risk assessments and on-site event security supervision • Document, analyze, and report on all SOC KPIs for Corporate Security compliance and executive briefings • Equipment life-cycle planning • Evaluation and procurement of vendor selection • Quality review of all incident reports generated by the SOC • Ability to declare an emergency and commence evacuations and recommend site closures to Board of Management • Act as Incident Commander for emergency situations

What makes you stand out

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree and/or Technical Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience working in a supervisory capacity in a Security Operations Center, 911, or other Emergency Dispatch Center. Years of Relevant Experience Required: 5+ Years Years of Supervisory Experience Required: 2+ Years
Skills and Qualifications: • Highly effective at organizing and managing time and resources. • Work well under times of extreme pressure, involving life-safety scenarios • Intuitive understanding of complex industry dynamics and multiple business functions. • Ability to operate cross-functionally (vertically and horizontally) in a high-demand, rapidly shifting/fluid environment. • Liaise, work and interact with other team members, Police, Fire, EMS, building/system owners, customers and projects effectively. • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with various internal and external partners. • Ability to multi-task, determine shift priorities and delegate work. • Training and experience leading during incidents and/or crisis situations • Ability to adapt to both team and individual working environments. • Solve technical problems and communicate solutions in an orderly, practical manner. • Ability to reach site location within 30 minutes when working remotely • Ability to maintain flexible work hours to account for time zone differences with Europe, when necessary • Overtime may be required to meet ramp-up deadlines. • Advanced knowledge of physical security , IT, Communications, and Fire Notification systems • Certifications or extensive experience using access control and CCTV systems • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills • Ability to effectively manage contractors, projects, and deadlines. • ASIS CPP, APP, or equivalent certification preferred
