About the Role


This exciting opportunity is based in the charming town of St. Thomas, Ontario, and requires in-person attendance.

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and highly motivated IT Infrastructure Expert to join our dynamic team and help us to setup, maintain and enhance our IT infrastructure and providing innovative solutions and exceptional service. Reporting to the CIO, you will work closely with the local IT team and the PowerCo Germany IT team at our Headquarter. 

  
 
Key Responsibilities

•    Design, implement, and manage the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and storage and cloud systems.
•    Plan and implement various Enterprise network solutions such as Wide Area Networks (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN / Wireless LAN), Network Access Control, DMZ environments, Intrusion prevention systems (IPS), Azure, AWS and 3rd Party connections
•    Managing and maintaining the company’s active and passive network equipment in data center and server rooms, such as routers, switches, firewalls, storage, NAS, wireless network, LAN and WAN connections, even future cloud based 
•    Installing, upgrading, and managing active network devices based on VW group standards
•    Ensure monitoring and analysis of systems, network traffic / performance, effect on existing network infrastructure and coordinate the availability of network infrastructure
•    Manage and maintain virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
•    Organizing, troubleshooting, specialist support for complex network incidents and problems
•    Inspecting network systems including their performance and readiness and take into consideration bandwidth requirements, infrastructure requirements and security
•    Manage / resolve security countermeasures when network vulnerabilities arise
•    Oversee data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
•    Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
•    Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and advancements to ensure the company’s infrastructure remains current and efficient.
•    Purchasing equipment and ensuring the efficient operation and keeping an accurate inventory
•    Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff.
•    Collaborating closely with CIO in the execution of the IT strategy
•    Subject matter expert in Network Infrastructure for the organization
•    Collaborate with other IT professionals within VW Group and departments to assess infrastructure needs and develop solutions.
•    Supporting large-scale network and security infrastructure projects
•    Review network vendors to ensure that quality network solutions are proposed according to requirements
•    Supports the CISO organization in the management of the network security posture aligned to PowerCo Security Standards and the ISO27001/2 framework    

  
 
What you bring to the Team

•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
•    Min. 7 years of relevant experience, ideally at large companies or experience with complex IT projects and IT infrastructure management.
•    Proficiency with active and passive network equipment
•    Strong knowledge of network protocols, server hardware, and storage solutions, components and configuration
•    Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
•    Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux operating systems.
•    Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
•    Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCDP/CCIE, MCSE, VCP) are a plus.
•    Experience in supporting networks and network security infrastructure
•    Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
•    Effective project management and facilitation skills
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical personnel
•    International mindset and strong interest in global work and diverse teams
•    German language skills desired
