About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and highly motivated IT Specialist to join our dynamic team and help us to setup, maintain and enhance our digital workplaces, providing innovative solutions and exceptional service. Reporting to the CIO, you will work closely with the local IT team and the PowerCo Germany IT team at our Headquarter.

 

This exciting opportunity is based in the charming town of St. Thomas, Ontario, and requires in-person attendance. 

  
 
Key Responsibilities

•    Managing and maintaining the company’s technological equipment, such as computers, tablets, and smartphones, and keeping an accurate inventory thereof
•    Purchasing equipment and ensuring the efficient operation of each work station, all necessary programs and applications
•    Installing, upgrading, and managing software and hardware on company devices
•    Organizing, troubleshooting, repairing and restoring data
•    Creating instruction for program installation sequences
•    Providing staff with trainings on how to use hardware, software, and cloud-based services
•    Facilitating the interaction between end users and higher-level support
•    Monitoring system and network performance and organizing maintenance activities (e.g. backups)
•    Managing all software licenses and upgrading schedules
•    Providing customer support to all internal stakeholders 
•    Collaborating closely with Ramp-up IT Manager in the execution of the IT strategy
•    Provide project management as needed for digital workplace projects
•    Implement M365 digital workplace solutions
•    Supervise, manage or direct a project by applying industry experience and specialized knowledge
•    Prepare documents, presentations and reports to share information with other project teams
•    Evaluate and implement technical solutions with providers and suppliers
•    Collaborating with business units, VWGoA and VW headquarters
•    Performing all departmental administrative duties such as answering, receiving, and routing incoming mail and deliveries; managing the department general mailbox/phone line, etc.
•    Performing other related duties as assigned or as they might pertain to the position

  
 
What you bring to the Team

•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience. MBA or Business IT strongly desired
•    3-5 years of relevant work experience, ideally at large companies or experience with complex IT projects
•    Expertise in IT tools (ServiceNow) and concepts, such as operating systems Microsoft, Office 365 and internet protocol suites
•    Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN configurations
•    Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem solving skills
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical personnel
•    Ability to work in a demanding, self-supervisory, multi-tasking environment
•    International mindset and strong interest in global work and diverse teams
•    Occasional travel within Ontario (~10%)
•    Ability to maintain flexible work hours to account for time zone differences with Europe, when necessary
•    Overtime may be required to meet ramp-up deadline
•    German language skills are considered an asset
