About the Role

For the initial ramp-up phase of our North American operations, we are looking for a passionate Manager in the field of Process and Systems who wants to CELLebrate in fast-paced and fast-changing environments. As part of the ramp-up team, you will work closely with local PowerCo SE team members, our PowerCo SE team members at Headquarters in Germany as well as colleagues from the Volkswagen Group Canada in Ajax, ON. Reporting to the Head of Central Functions team, you will play a pivotal role as an Data Release Manager, orchestrating and managing the release management process within a complex IT landscape. This role focuses on planning, coordinating, and steering activities, while providing support to the business as needed.

 

This is a flex hybrid work structure, where employees can work both remotely and on-site at our St. Thomas location.

  
 
Key Responsibilities

•    Strategic Coordination: Orchestrate and manage IT release activities, for example SAP, by collaborating closely with key stakeholders, including the local IT team in Canada, the central IT team in Germany, and the Procurement team at HQ in Germany.
•    End-to-End Data Release Management: Design and implement a robust release management framework, ensuring seamless planning, scheduling, and execution of IT releases.
•    IT Landscape Expertise: Address integration challenges and dependencies across the IT ecosystem, ensuring stability and compatibility of the system landscape.
•    Demand & Delivery Management: Establish and oversee a demand management process, aligning business requirements with IT capabilities to ensure timely delivery.
•    Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for system and process improvements, ensuring high availability, scalability, and efficiency of IT systems. Identify opportunities for automation and AI tools for existing process to improve efficiency and reduce manual workloads
•    Change & Risk Management: Manage risks and changes associated with IT systems releases, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations while adhering to governance frameworks.
•    Testing & Quality Assurance: Define and oversee test management strategies to ensure the quality and reliability of IT systems releases.
•    Training & Change Enablement: Partner with stakeholders to ensure effective training and change management programs for smooth adoption of new Data functionalities.
•    Collaboration Across Teams: Serve as a key liaison, fostering effective communication and alignment between IT, business stakeholders, and project teams.
•    Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements for all Data-related activities.
•    Perform other related tasks as assigned

  
 
What you bring to the Team

•    Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
•    Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT environments, with at least 5 years in release management roles and relevant experience in an industrial, chemical, manufacturing, or automotive B2B environment with proven experience.
•    Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale IT systems implementations, upgrades, and complex system landscapes.
•    Hands-on experience in implementing and operating release management processes such as demand management, delivery management, test management, and change management.
•    Strong strategic and planning orientation, with an ability to orchestrate and manage multiple parallel activities.
•    Exceptional collaboration skills to work effectively with local and global teams, including IT and Procurement stakeholders.
•    High-level process and system affinity, with a proactive mindset for identifying opportunities and driving improvements.
•    Familiarity with tools and methodologies such as SAP Solution Manager, Agile, and DevOps frameworks.
•    Knowledge of procurement principles and best practices
•    Ability to identify and incorporate opportunities for process improvement
•    Ability to present information on top-management level
•    Ability to occasionally travel to Germany to PowerCo HQ for onboarding trainings.
•    German language knowledge desirable, but not required
