Your role and key responsibilities

The Communications  Co-Op will support all areas within the Communications, Public & Government Affairs division at PowerCo Canada. This role provides hands-on experience in internal and external communications, Indigenous relations, government relations, media relations, and social media.  

 

This is a flex hybrid work structure, where employees can work both remotely and on-site at our St. Thomas location.

  
 
What you bring to the team
  • Assist with content creation for internal news, newsletters, videos, presentations, and social media.
  • Design and produce visually appealing graphics, infographics, videos, and other multimedia content.
  • Assist with video projects, including tasks such as storyboarding, filming, and editing.
  • Provide support for internal and external events.
  • Contribute ideas and strategies for effective communications.
  • Identify trends and topics for media content creation and implementation.
  • Assist with short-term requests from various departments, representatives, and stakeholders.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned based on business needs. 
  
 
What makes you stand out
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary co-op program related to communications, marketing, media, or a similar field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workloads within tight deadlines.
  • Creative thinking and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience with photo/video editing tools (Photoshop, Premiere) and design tools (Illustrator, Figma).
  • Writing experience (blogs, social media, articles).

This posting is for a currently vacant co-op role. The hourly wage is $27/ hour.
