About the Role

 

The Change Management Engineer will manage and coordinate all change-related processes to minimize disruptions to the construction schedule, budget and maintain project integrity. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying, assessing, and implementing changes within the project, ensuring adherence to relevant standards, and maintaining clear communication among stakeholders.

  
 
Key Responsibilities

 

  • Design and lead a structured change management framework that aligns with project objectives and reflects industry-leading practices.
  • Champion governance by ensuring all change initiatives are rigorously documented, assessed, approved, and effectively communicated to stakeholders.
  • Anticipate and evaluate change drivers within project scope, budget, and schedule, collaborating with construction, engineering, and procurement leaders to enable proactive decision-making.
  • Oversee and strategically manage the project’s contingency budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation and financial stewardship.
  • Assess and forecast impacts of proposed changes on cost, schedule, resources, and quality, enabling leadership to make informed trade-off decisions.
  • Facilitate executive-level decision-making by coordinating change requests, impact assessments, and approvals with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive alignment across the organization by preparing and securing approvals for key decision documents within PowerCo Canada and Global Headquarters.
  • Serve as the central authority for all change-related matters, ensuring transparency, alignment, and accountability across functions.
  • Translate strategy into action by communicating approved changes with clarity to construction and cross-functional teams to ensure effective execution.
  • Maintain governance oversight through a comprehensive, audit-ready log of all change requests, evaluations, approvals, and outcomes.
  • Safeguard compliance by ensuring all change documentation adheres to regulatory, contractual, and project requirements.
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities associated with change and collaborate with project leadership to define robust mitigation and optimization strategies.
  • Protect project outcomes by implementing measures that minimize disruption and reinforce commitments to safety, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Advance continuous improvement by leveraging lessons learned, data insights, and stakeholder feedback to refine change management practices.
  
 
What you bring to the Team

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or some other construction-related field of study, or equivalent.
  • 7-10 years working in the multi-disciplinary/complex construction industry (i.e., engineering-, architecture-, or construction-related, or equivalent), preferably with execution of industrial facilities.
  • Experience working specifically on large projects.
  • Experience in change management and decision taking mechanisms.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and coordination.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Can read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Understands the nuances of the design and construction process.
  • Able to work safely on an active construction site in accordance with the Health & Safety Plan.
  • Can communicate in a professional manner with engineers, architects, and construction managers both verbally and in writing.
  • Has high degrees of team orientation and social competence.
  • Detail oriented and will diligently ensure that components of the project meet the overall goal.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Primarily on-site at construction projects with some time spent in the office for coordination and planning.
  • Certification in Project Management or Change Management (e.g., PMP, CCMP).
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards related to large construction projects is an asset.
  • Experience in Oracle ACONEX and Primavera is an asset.
  • Experience working within large, complex project teams and actively participating in construction meetings.
